So, welcome to my blog!
A little bit about myself, some of which you can also read on my About Me page. I'm Elizabeth, a Writing Arts and International Studies major, trying to combine my many interests to find out what I want to do in life and to make the world a better place. I also love reading (especially fantasy and supernatural genres, plus historical and mystery books); baking; watching TV; and walking my dog. I love animals, and dogs are definitely at the top of my Favorites list.
I've used Wix before for a semester project, but haven't thought about for a while until recently. I've considered writing a blog for a while, but so many of the things I like - food, fairy tales, myths, books, TV shows, other cultures - have already been done. What could I offer, I wondered?
I finally decided to go with a subset of my interests --- international holidays. I love celebrating things, even as simple as the first day of the month. My mom and I even have a tradition of saying "happy first/last day" of every month, just because we can. There's a lot of learn from the things people celebrate, and how they celebrate; why do they find these events important, how are they the same as and different from us and our traditions? It reminds us that we are all human, all people with similar interests, hopes, and dreams, but it also highlights our wonderful diversity.
So I don't know who or how many people are going to read this, if at all. Probably no one else finds this subject intriguing, not like I do. But I liked the idea and decided to go ahead with it. Because if you don't write what you feel like writing --- excepting things like school reports, emails, resumes, and checks --- than what's the point in being a writer?
If you've made it this far, thank-you. Thank-you for checking out my little blog and seeing what I'm about. And if you do like this subject as much as I do, then welcome aboard! Please feel free to send me any suggestions on holidays you'd like to see, or any corrections in case I get anything wrong. I'm always looking to expand my horizons, and I'd love for you to be a part of that.
Thanks again, and hope to see you soon!
